HARVEST STORY

Vijaya Haritaki

Believed to have grown where a drop of amrita touched the earth, Vijaya Haritaki is the ancient fruit of the sacred groves — wild, whole, and offered to you exactly as nature intended.

WESTERN GHATS, INDIA

One of the world’s great biodiversity hotspots. Home to the Devrai forests, where the Mahadeo Koli tribe have protected wild Haritaki trees for generations.

The Kalpavriksha of the Western Ghats

In the Vedic tradition, the Kalpavriksha — the wish-fulfilling tree — is said to grow at the peak of Mount Meru, offering what is needed to those who seek it. We have found it in the ancient forests of the Western Ghats. The Haritaki tree, believed to have grown where a drop of amrita touched the earth, holds the place of highest honor in Ayurveda — first among herbs, sovereign among medicines. The Medicine Buddha himself is often depicted holding its fruit in his hands.

The Sacred Groves

Deep in the Western Ghats, Haritaki trees grow wild in Devrai —forests set aside in the name of the divine. These groves are protected by the Mahadeo Koli tribe through unwritten laws passed from elder to child. Before any harvest, a puja is performed. They are not farmers of this forest. They are its guardians.

The Vijaya Fruit

Of the seven varieties of Haritaki described in Ayurvedic texts, we source Vijaya — the most revered of all, treasured for its ability to heal, purify, and renew. Wild-harvested by hand in late winter, as the fruits mature from tender green to deep golden-brown, each one carries what Ayurveda calls rasayana — that which supports longevity and carries life forward.

From the Forest to You

The Mahadeo Koli harvest only what the forest freely offers, walking these groves with reverence and care for what comes after. We wild-harvest the Vijaya Haritaki and stone grind the fruit whole — no extracts, no isolates, nothing removed. It arrives to you as it fell from the Kalpavriksha: wild, whole, and complete.

The Kalpavriksha — faithful, generous, eternal — has always been here, waiting in the sacred forests of the Western Ghats. We are honored to bring its gift to you.
